yarnbank® participated in the Pitti Filati exhibition held in Italy in July. Here again, we would like to introduce the latest trends caught by the participating members, as well as some interesting knit samples related to these trends.
The trend in yarns seems to be the continued popularity of thicker count yarns for coarse gauges. In particular, design yarns, which are a fusion of elegance and playfulness that are unique to Italy, attracted a lot of attention with their originality as can only be seen at Pitti Filati, such as the use of colors, the shape of the nep yarn, and the fine and beautiful luster of lamé.
On the other hand, there were many requests for more delicate knitted fabrics than 18-gauge textures, and the trend of yarn count continues to be polarized. SHIMA SEIKI ITALIA exhibited new flat knitting machine models to meet these needs at its booth.
Certification is a must in Europe, and the impression is that recycled cashmere and wool materials are on the rise.
In addition, yarns made from natural materials mixed with TPU have also appeared, and the possibility for next-generation knitwear that combines new technologies are expanding.
The following knit samples were well received at Pitti Filati and match these trends.

Embossed bag with a tubular jacquard composition. Material is a combination of thermoplastic polyurethane yarn with high grip performance and stretch yarn to express uneven texture. The effect is achieved by pressing a special backing film (matte/glossy/super glossy) between the heating surface and the fabric. This bag uses silicone backing film (super glossy) and has a glossy finish. The pattern was created using the pattern creation tool on SDS-ONE APEX series design software.

3D logo swatch is expressed in three different ways of knitting. Different knitting techniques give the logo a different three-dimensional feel and impression. Material is yarn-dyed recycled polyester yarn manufactured from used plastic bottles.

Embossed punch lace pullover. Ultrafine merino wool mixed with lamé is used for the main yarn, and highly elastic woolly nylon is used for the secondary yarn, creating an uneven appearance due to the difference in elasticity.
