COCON (Spun silk dyed yarn)

"COCON" our main product, is a color stock yarn made from spun silk and dyed in a dyeing factory in Japan. Spun silk yarn is made by collecting raw silk by-product (kibiso) and cocoons that could not be made into raw silk, and spinning them into cotton material. Spun silk yarn is the highest grade among the many types of short-fiber spun silk yarns. The texture is soft and warm because of the use of short fibers (spun). The cross section of a single fiber has a triangular cross section, which has a prismatic effect and gives it a subdued luster and whiteness. 3 denier per fiber, it is characterized by its smooth texture and shiny, elegant appearance.
COCON uses A1 sliver, which has the longest and finest fiber length among silk spun yarns, and thus has a higher luster and uniformity. The yarn is spun at a spinning mill that sells to many first-class European maisons, and is produced under a strict control system.
Dyeing is mainly done at a historical dyeing factory in Kyoto.
Because the yarn is dyed without excessive load, the silk yarn can be dyed evenly and beautifully without losing its original texture.

Thoughts on yarnbank

What we expect to Yarn Bank

One of the main reasons why we started using yarnbank is that we thought that we could offer silk processed in Japan to overseas users. As the number of processing plants in Japan with strong technical capabilities is decreasing due to the aging of the workforce and the lack of skilled workers, we believe that if we can sell domestic processed yarns widely overseas, we will be able to ask processing factory for more work, which in turn will lead to the protection of domestic processing plants. We hope that yarnbank will provide an opportunity to offer Japanese textile processing technology to yarnbank users all over the world.
