Supporting high-quality flat knitting simulations.
SHIMA SEIKI's SDS-ONE APEX can be used to design flat knitting patterns including structure patterns, intarsia patterns and jacquard patterns. It can also perform realistic simulation of yarn such as mohair yarn, slub yarn and shiny yarn, taking into account plating, number of thread take-ups and counts. It also improves production efficiency with a database of more than 1,000 structure patterns, which are linked with the KnitCAD software for SHIMA SEIKI knitting machines. SDS-ONE APEX offers comprehensive support for each stage in the flat knitting supply chain, from knit planning, pattern design and colorway evaluation to production and even sales promotion. It is an optimal design system for all types of knit production, for knit manufacturers, planning companies, OEM and ODM manufacturers, trade firms, yarn traders, interior designers and sundry manufacturers.
Planning/Design
Planning and design are considered key elements in today's fashion industry. Specialized functions based on industry experience and know-how allow SDS-ONE APEX to provide quick and powerful support of apparel design work for supporting continuously changing trends.
Illustration/spec sheet

DRAW software and a full selection of brush types and line tools can be used for fashion drawings and illustrations.
Designing

A rich database of patterns and structures is available. Various designs can be created easily by combining and editing these data.
It is possible to trace lines, through semi-transparent layers. Designs can also be converted directly into stitches by specifying color and gauge.
Colorway

You can register trend colors and yarn colors for performing efficient evaluations and giving precise instructions. By combining these colors with scanned yarn data, virtual yarn sample book can be created. PANTONE color guide is also available, which supports accurate color communication.
Useful colorway functions are available such as creating automatic colorways using registered colors.
High quality color simulation can be created from product photos or scanned fabrics, maintaining shade and texture.
Patterning
SDS-ONE APEX also functions as a full-featured apparel CAD system, with comprehensive patternmaking, grading and marking (PGM) functions for creating and fine-tuning patterns for all apparel applications. Patternmaking is especially important for quality shaping and WHOLEGARMENT knitting.
Patternmaking

With SDS-ONE APEX's patternmaking software, high-quality pattern can be created easily. Comprehensive drawing and editing functions allow detailed control approaching that of manual patternmaking.
Grading

Correct sizing of products can be achieved with grading software. Users can choose between pitch-formula and rule-formula grading. With such high-quality grading features as line-check and automatic pitch calculation, optimum grading pitch can be worked out for each product size.
Marking

In addition to manual marking, SDSR-ONE APEX's marking software features ultra-high speed automatic marking for instant creation of markers. The software is also capable of creating markers in sequence, allowing fully automated marking of multiple jobs. Markers can be transferred to P-CAM fabric cutting machine, for efficient and accurate cutting.
Knit Programming
SDS-ONE APEX strongly supports quick and easy programming of knitwear with continuously evolving software and abundant database.
KnitCAD

Patterns based on measurements can be converted into the correct number of stitches. SHIMA SEIKI's knowhow is accumulated in a package database of various styles, making programming easy especially for complex patterns such as WHOLEGARMENT. Automatic Processing software creates machine data automatically.
Automatic Yarn Carrier Setting

Automatic Yarn Carrier Setting software automatically allocates yarn feeders, allowing easy programming of complex intarsia patterns.
Visual Shaping

Images are used to create a more user-friendly programming environment.
Knitting Assist

Unfavorable knitting conditions and programming errors are detected beforehand, yielding higher efficiency and productivity.
Virtual Sampling
Super Realistic loop simulation allows quick evaluation and presentation of virtual knitwear before sample-making. Since virtual sampling data is based on actual programming data, once approved, the design can go to production immediately.
Yarn Input

Patented SHIMA SEIKI technology is used to extract the yarn image from scanned yarn to be used in realistic loop simulations. Existing yarns can undergo virtual processing, or original yarns can be created from scratch.
Loop Simulation

Virtual sampling using super-realistic loop simulation allows effective presentation and evaluation without sample-making. Even delicate textures of fancy yarn such as lame yarn, nep yarn, mohair yarn, etc can be expressed.
For WHOLEGARMENT, it is possible to create 3D simulations based on programming data. Connections between sleeves and body panels can be seen in detail.
Weaving Simulation

Accurate weaving design can be perfromed efficiently with simulated woven fabrics.
Mapping

Simulated or scanned fabric can be draped onto photos to make realistic product images.
Post Process

Auto Punching and Embroidery Pen are available for quick and easy simulation of embroidery.
The customized pen nib is used for attaching accessories and simulating overstitch. Print designs can be composited with fabrics to create realistic simulations of printed products.
3D Simulation
SDS-ONE APEX features 3D simulation to evaluate the product from any angle. 3D Item Database allows 3D images to be created easily especially for beginners or anyone without experience in patternmaking.
3D Model

An original model can be created by inputting body measurements, skin color, hair color and hair style, etc. Moreover, body pose can be adjusted for a variety of presentations.
Patternmaking to 3D Fitting

Once the sewing line is set, patterns created using the measurement table or PGM software can be placed around the body. Based on those measurements and fabric properties (KES), the pattern can be sewn together and draped onto the body in 3D Fitting Simulation. Fabric tension and pressure points can be displayed in color for reference in product development.
3D Mapping

Scanned or simulated fabric can be mapped onto the 3D garment.
Item Coordinates

It is possible to create models with layered coordinates.
Production
Data created on SDS-ONE APEX is sent to various machinery for production. SHIMA SEIKI's product lineup includes state-of-the-art computerized knitting machines and fabric cutting machines.

Sales Promotion
Reach the Consumer

SDS-ONE APEX's powerful graphics capability can be used for various promotional items at the retail level, such as point-of-purchase (POP) displays. Such items offer a very effective means for reaching the consumer with any special message you may have concerning a garment or collection .
Posters, Catalogues and POP Material

A wide array of design tools are at your disposal for creating various promotional items.
Presentation with 3D data

3D data can be saved in AVI and PDF format to be viewed on PCs. Presentations will have far more impact.
